Hello and welcome to Biscotti di Francesca! My name is Jacob Maggioncalda, and this is my company.
In 1957, my nonna (grandmother), Francesca Maggioncalda fled from war-torn Italy with nothing but the clothes on her back and a few family recipes engraved in her mind. Fast forward 42 years when I was born and I’ve made a covenant with my nonna to learn my family’s recipes and pass them down to my future family. One of these recipes that I absolutely love to make is biscotti. For those of you who don’t know what biscotti is, it is a hard, oblong shaped “cookie” that is traditionally used to dunk in your coffee. As a matter of fact, the literal translation for biscotti is “twice baked”. Hence why a biscotti is harder than your average cookie
One day, while making biscotti with my nonna, I realized we had a good recipe on our hands when neighbors would constantly stop by to grab a few biscotti. This made me wonder why I wasn’t sharing this recipe with the rest of the world. From that point forward, I have had a dream to take this biscotti recipe and build a business around it. After months of hard work, I am eager to present to you Biscotti di Francesca.
